Cutting boards are something that every kitchen needs. Whether a professional chef or backyard cook, these boards are useful to any cook.
There are three options when it comes to these boards. There are end grain boards, face grain boards, and edge grain boards. Each have their benefits and will work for whether smaller vegetables or a whole rack of ribs is getting prepped and cut up.
Different sizes and types will be available as soon as they are completed. Cherry and maple are the only woods available for cutting boards at this time because those two woods contrast nicely with each other, but more importantly, these two woods are considered food safe.
Small boards are good for vegetables and smaller items that need cut up and prepared. Small boards also are great because they are easy to store since they don’t take up a lot of space. Medium boards are great for a general purpose board. With the medium sized boards, they are versatile because most foods can be prepped on this size. Large boards excel when preparing whole cuts of meat such as full racks of ribs, briskets, or any other large cut of meat.
Finished with mineral oil and bees wax, these boards are durable and ready to use. That being said, boards should not go through the dishwasher. They should only be washed in the sink with warm water and soap. After that, they need to air dry. Never submerge a board in water as this will risk compromising the structural integrity of the board.
